  • 3 prong diode?

I have a 95 katana 750. there is a 3 prong diode that is getting hot and smoking with the key on. it seems to be for the lights. any info on this would be spectacular.

You shouldn't like your wiring harness smoke, it's bad for it's health.

But seriously, if you have wires smoking, time to pull things apart and figure out why!

Uuuummm, no...there is only one diode it's for the Sidestand. Where is this smoke coming from on the bike area wise?

the diode itself is getting very hot. when you unplug the solid blue wire it quits

Diodes have two legs, not three.

Post a picture of the smoking beast...

So if i'm looking at this right and i'd like to think that I am,#35 sidestand diode
is what he's talking about. green wire goes to 33 side stand switch,
black to # 25 neutral switch, black & blue to #4 neutral warning light.

yes spot on with the description. is there any of those circuits prone to short out? and with a new development when I go into gear all the lights shut off. even the cluster and taillight

OK, I see why there are three leads - there are TWO diodes in that pack with the blue wire being common to both.

Try disconnecting one of the other wires - leave the blue one connected. The problem might stop with one of the wires disconnected - then we can trace it to the problem area.
