Sometimes key on/power on, other times key on/no electrical - RESOLVED

I just picked the bike a nice 1998 Katana. Ran fine, with key moved to on, all lights and starter worked normal a few times. Now, I sometimes get power with key on and it starts, other times, with key on, absolutely no electrical to power anything. Battery checked and over 12 volts, 30A main fuse is good. Any suggestions? Could it be the keyed ignition switch and its wiring? TIA
