  • do I *really* need the oil cooler?

Just bought my '92 kat 750. been riding only enduro's until now, i love how much easier the Katana is to ride (on the street), oh and the katana just a bit faster . . .

So my oil cooler is leaking. and sure it's probably an easy enough fix and i should fix it---but do i even REALLY need it? can't i just run high quality and thicker oil?

thanks very much for your time on this. i tried to search the forum and other places but didn't find anything. I mean, i guess everyone thinks it's a bad idea, but HOW bad? will it seize in 5 minutes, or can i go years without a cooler?

    thanks again,

Haha!!!! Yes, you do need the oil cooler. The engine is air/oil cooled. It would be like running a car without the radiator.

What ^ said. It's oil cooled. Absolutely required. You can pick up a new (used) one on eBay for cheap if needed.
