  • 1990 GSX600F - Are the exhausts actually joined_

Have noticed a hole in the pipe that goes between the 2 x 2 into 1 exhaust pipes that I have. It is a section of pipe that is just in front of the both mufflers.

Is this a potential source of a leak, or is it just a structural element?

This is the joint that I am talking about.

Yes, it actually is a flow threw pipe, meant to balance the exhaust pulses.

Its the same with automotive applications. IE. Like The mustang's "H"pipe. Its for exactly what Junker said.

        Many thanks gentlemen!

My plan was to sand down the pipes and paint with high temp paint anyway. Guess I will need to do a little patch job as well.
