  • oil flow issues

    Hello,
I recently took my bike out of storage after sitting for about 2 years. I changed the oil, plugs and battery and it starts but I cant see oil in my sight glass. So I'm pretty sure its clogged somewhere but I have no clue where to even start.

Are you looking while the bike is running?

It's on the side stand. I'll check it at center tomorrow but I don't think that's it. It always sat at side before and I could see oil. I added 4 quarts after draining it. That should show

You can see oil, but it looks super low. It's not going to give you an accurate reading.

Agreed. I can sit the bike up and it reads normal but drop it on the side stand and I cannot see it

That's normal. You're supposed to check oil level when the bike is straight upright, not leaning on the side stand. And this is exactly why.

I feel like somewhat of a dumb ass. Well from sitting a more than normal amount of oil drained from the oil cooler and crank. It took 5 quarts to fill it up and no I can not see oil while on the side stand but is full from the center stand. Thanks everyone.

Ahh don't worry about feeling like a dumb ass, it gets easier with time, I have been feeling that way for many years.
