  • Quick Kat and busa question

I just got done reading "INSTALLING LARGER ENGINES in Kats" and was curious if any one has dropped a busa engine into a kat? Kabusa anyone? Yes this is likely a noob question. Yes I am a noob, but I love working on things and have a possibility of getting a 06 1300 busa engine cheap.

Unfortunately the Busa engine is water cooled. You could probably shove one in, and maybe find space for the radiator and reservoir, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't look too good.

Not to mention the fact that the frame or swingarm would probably buckle itself from the torque involved

If you were playing with an 1100 kitty...you'd have more room to play with and a stronger frame...but it'd still be a hell of a job.

        Yea, good luck with that.
And when you're done will you sell the engine to me cheap so I can put it in a smart car?
You read the installing larger engine thread, I don't think it mentions any water cooled engine fitting.

The offsets and motor mounts are different to start, along with needing to transplant all of the electronics including a fuel pump.

The oil cooled motors are easy to swap because they all mount the same and use carbs that fit in the envelope.

I own both a Busa and a Kat and I can tell you that you would pretty much have to rebuild the frame around the engine to get the busa engine and all of it's components to fit in a Kat.

Why not be different and make a Hayatana. Imagine the laughs you'd get with a GSX400F engine in an otherwise standard Hayabusa.

Water cooled is a no go... there was a guy here once that swore up and down that he could to a water cooled gsxr in a kat in 24 hours...

he's never been heard from again...
