Currently my main problem is that the engine seems to bog when I rapidly accelerate (especially in second gear). This problem seems to be most prominent when the weather is cooler (not cold). From what I've read, this is a symptom of the engine running too rich. However, usually when I pull to a stop the engine will surge or die unless I nurse it along. I've read that the engine surging is a symptom of the engine running lean.
I'm new to working on engines but a few weeks ago I finally pulled the carbs and cleaned them (full disassembly). I tried to synch them, but though I got them to synch at idle, each of the carbs pulls differently when given some throttle.
A few other possibly relevant details:
I live in a very warm area, daytime is about 105 and evening is low 90s.
My fuel efficiency is WAY down. I'm only getting about 80-90miles out of a tank.
Does this sound like an issue of the air/ fuel mixture or am I barking up the wrong tree? Any insight will be appreciated.
