  • smellin like a lawn mower

ok so ive been reading about carbs and such lately, and it got me thinking. when i stand next to my bike and start it up, vrroom, started fine, when its cold it hesitates with even the lightest flick of the throttle, 5 min later it bogs down around 3-5k rpms, after 10 min its runnin great. BUT after i run it and shut it down i smell like a lawn mower, lol and i can smell massive amounts of fuel. just wondering what you guys think about it, like what specific part/parts it would be.

and sorry if i havent searched enough to find my answer

i know where to get carb rebuild kits, and i just found the carb 102 guide. im sorry but because this is my first carb vehicle im just nervious about doing this myself u know. so im trying to find all the info before i start

The warm up period is normal (maybe not 10 minutes every time, but some time is needed). If I had your problem (I am by no means a mechanic nor do I know what is causing your problem exactly) I would pull my plugs and inspect them. They are one of the easiest ways to tell if you are running lean or rich (which I am assuming you might be). White=lean Black=rich. You can find charts online with exact colors. That is where I personally would start.

ok ill check that out too, but here is another question. on a car you can tell what is going on by the color smoke coming out the exhaust, now when i get over 6k it puffs some white smoke. what does that mean on a bike

white smoke is condensation (water somewhere). Bluish smoke is normally oil burning off.

**Edit: Just realized you are in Norfolk. Doesn't it figure that the Hampton Roads area Kat riders start to grow in numbers just as I am leaving for Florida?**
