How essential is this metal plug/cap on the carb body?

(This is not a Katana, only a picture for example)

I have a 93 Kat 600 and one of them is damaged (dinged), there is a trace of gasoline behind it.

Is that not the end cap for the throttle shaft. If it is you may have a vacuum leak there.

i believe Spedee is correct, does it run OK? if it's just dinged you might be alright, or you may want to find a way to seal it off. JBWeld maybe? maybe some other carb experts will chime in later.

The one with the red "X" on it....

Does anybody know where I could get a spare plug? I believe it is my vacuum that is going ary.

How about threading in a key-way set screw with some sealant.
