I just dropped the engine out of my 600 two days ago. It was a pretty interesting operation. Once I got all the **** unbolted to where it was just engine frame I did the following.
1. Set the engine/frame combo on top of 2 car tires that you have laying in your garage.
2. Scrape of ~4 lbs of **** from where you think the engine bolts may be
3. Apply chemicals vigorously
4. Get roommate to come to the garage (In Minnesota it is rough when your garage isn't heated)
5. I prefer large handled bars for more leverage.
6. Twist and pray (just get them loose)
7. take off the front frame bolts (Kind of behind where the oil cooler was)
8. Next I did the weird bolts behind the kickstand. There are two of then. They are 2 different sizes as well. It was kind of irritating. One has a spacer for some unknown reason and it sticks out about an inch. It is pretty easy to see.
9. Once all the bolts were loose I just had my roommate manhandle the frame while I put my hand in dangerous places to take the bolts off.
10. I also had to take off some brackets that were on the front. I don't honestly remember what they were for. I thought we could do it while leaving them on but we were wrong.
11. Stare at your engine wondering what you got yourself in to.
That is a short guide to how I did it on Sunday.
