I was going to make a thread about my 93 600 katana hard shifting into first from neutral and would grind, lurch forward , or stall. The high idle didn't help. It was also very hard to shift into 2nd once going.
My bike has 12,000 miles ,probably without any tuneup, and the clutch perch adjustment on the handle bars was maxed out but still pulling it in plenty. I saw a thread on here about adjusting the clutch itself down on the crank case by the shifter and then taking out most of the slack in the cable with the coarse adjustment down there and the last 1/4" with the fine adjustment on the perch. I also got my idle a little lower and more stable.
Now it shifts into first much easier without trying to self destruct,jump,or stall and the rest of the gears are like butter. You guys saved my transmission from certain destruction.
