Do I have to change the oil filter while the oil is drained or can I do it with oil in it? I drained the oil and filled up 2400 ML out of the 3300 ML (Ran out) so I am waiting till tommorrow to go get more. I didn't think about replacing the oil filter until I put the 2400 ML I have a K&N #138

It's high enough that you should get away with it but I'd have the drain pan underneath just in case. Better to lose a little oil than run the used filter.

Put it in containers and take the used oil to the store you bought the new oil from. They should take it for recycling. That is what is done here, not entirely sure of Cali...

Most auto parts store will recycle your oil for free...I think they're required by law.90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.

You're in Cali so you probably have to take it to a remote secure storage facility, fill out several forms, pay a large fee and swear on your mother's grave that you didn't leave any dirty rags behind in your garage. The rest of us drop it off at Autozone.
