  • Grinding stock header welds

    I got the tip from CP (RIP) and decided to give 'er a go before I reinstalled my replacement engine last year.

    Anyone else done this free mod? Did ya notice a difference?

    My replacement motor seems to pull stronger than the original but I don't know if the original engine was down on power or if grinding the welds actually makes a difference ya can feel...

    I thought I could feel a difference, but I did it over winter so it was hard to really tell. I did gain a vibration at a specific RPM that wasnt there before doing it. I tried adjusting some carb settings but it really wouldn't go away.

      I couldn't tell, but my butt dyno isn't very accurate.

        I did this mod, but like you I switched engines, but I did it with a b12 header.

          im just about to do this, but too much has been changed since i last rode to tell a difference, but i figure it cant hurt.

            honestly, I really don't think the difference would be so great that you would "really" notice it. you might gain what...half a HP maybe?

            it's not so much about any performance gain as it is just a "smoother" exhaust discharge...not a greater one. but like joedan says....can't hurt.
            I don't have a short temper. I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.
