Anybody use Chain Wax? My uncle told me that it is the best stuff he's used. Any opinions appreciated!

    that's what I use.
I used the R1 or F1 stuff and it's just too messy, it would fling all over the place.
i think the motorex stuff is pretty good...

depends on how much sand is in your area i think. If there is a lot of sand it will stick to the chain wax. I used some white lithium based chain oil (PJ! I think) because it flings off sand that can harm the chain. my .02 and I am no expert
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
      And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

i use chain wax and lube, its good but the sand sucks for me cause it clings on it. to much cruising around beaches. i opt to take my chain off and soak it in oil every 500 miles. seems to work better then lubing sand. Sand and dirt will destroy your o-rings on the chain, so get them off asap

I'd stay away from waxes because they retain dirt. Some people like to keep their bikes looking pretty, but if you don't mind a bit of oil on the rim, fling is a very good thing because it cleans the chain as you ride. I use straight 30wt, messy, but there's alot of sand on the roads around here.

The FAQ touches on this. I prefer PJ1, Chain Wax or similar products. Know that the more you use them the more you need to clean the chain. This is not true of oil. If you are going on a long trip then a product made to lubricate and cling to the chain is ideal. If you can find the time to lube the chain regularly then oil is obviously better.
Some people are primarily positive, others negative. Some argue about whether the glass is half full or half empty. Me? I drink the contents and call it empty.

I'll stand by my preference for using this

Get it at Lowe's (Only place I can find it) @ $4 a can. It's located near the tool aisles.

You can use it to CLEAN and LUBE the chain. I ride in all conditions, I soak the chain about every tankful of gas, after a ride with this stuff. My chain looks new....and it's got almost 20K on it.

Thanks for all the input. I settled on a Dry Lube made by gunk.com. It seems to be working well so far. You can get it at Wally-world for 4$ a can.

Use kerosene, It'll take all the crud off your rim, good for cleaning your chain too. I use Maxima chain lube. No wax here.
