  • Pre 98 Exhaust Header (EDIT)

What options do I have if I would like to replace the header on my 88? I know about the V&H swap but can I use a factory header off any other models such as the 98+ 600 or 750? I really would like to do a slip on, I like the larger size cans versus the V&H one (looks smaller to me). Thanks!!

I would imagine that a 750 header would bolt right up. You can use any can for a katana, you would just need to customize the mounting for it at the mid-pipe. I did that with mine, took it to a Midas, and had them make a custom adaptor so it would mount up. If you were to upgradwe to a 750 header, and grind the welds down, then that would aloow a lot more flow.

I have a 98+ 750 header on my 95 kat 600. Bolts up but you'll have to massage the collecter where the four pipes come together slightly with a rubber mallet to gain a hair (1/8") of clearance under the oil pan.

I don't think there is a part of your bike that hasn't been 'massaged'

I pmed you about this but will post it here, can I use a 98+ pan on my Kat? Also, if I use a complete 750 exhaust (just for the time being) would I need to jet the bike since I will be flowing more? Or leave it be till I do my D&D.
