  • Changing choke cable...some ???'s

I have the new one ready to go in. From the looks of it, I'm going to have to pull the tank off to get to where it connects to the carbs. Is there anything else that I should know of before I attack this?? Anything to be aware of when disconnecting from the choke lever??

    Thanks.

      J. Kidd, choke cable replacement was my first mechanical journey on my 99 Kat, let me tell you, it is EASY! You have nothing to worry about. Just make sure you pay attention to how the old choke cable was threaded up to the choke lever. If you don't run the new cable through the same route, you might run into length problems.
I'm starting to wonder if you all need a beatdown.

        part number for 98 600

Does anyone know what the part number for the choke cable is?

Ron Ayers has 2 if I am looking at the right part:

        ( 19-1 ) 58410-08F00 CABLE COMP,STAR
        ( 19-2 ) 58410-08F20 CABLE COMP,STAR

        Do I need both?

        Thanks!

Make sure you pay close attention to the routing of the cable!!

again, MAKE SURE YOU PAY UTMOST ATTENTION TO THE ROUTING OF THE CABLE.

Why would you do that. Its not like there is anything flammable down there. You removed the gas tank.
