  • Do I have a jet kit or not ????

Ok I have a 96 kat 600 I bought used. Seem to run a little sluggish when I bought it. I punched out the baffles out of the stock exhaust and seem to loose a little power so I bought a used yosh r&d pipe and header installed it and now I cant keep the front end on the ground. Night and day difference. Is there any way to tell if there is already a jet kit in the carb without pulling the carbs.
    Thanks all

There is a cap over the idle air mixture screw. If the cap is still on, it is a safe bet that you dont have a jet kit. Most jet kits have you drill the cap off and adjust the screw. But the cap is on the under side of the carburators, so seeing it with out taking off the fairing would be impossible. This is one check that you can do with out ripping the carbs apart, but I dont think you will be able to check it with out taking off the carbs.
    Is Effingham a swear word?

the question would better be asked - if you need to adjust the carbs after installing a header & pipe. how does it run ?

a dyno w/ a sniffer will tell you, but there are many threads about running lean or rich.

I dont have covers over my Air Fuel screws...
Does that mean I have a jet kit?
        95 750??

You know I like this question..
        My Carbs were pretty odd..
I'm sure they were monkeyed with.
What are some other signs of a jet kit?

slotted needles. the stock needle has only 1 slot ( for the e-clip )
a jet kit needle will have 5-6 slots.

you can usually read the main jet number & see if it's stock.
