i just replaced some exhaust gaskets on my 96 750 and when i was putting the pipes back on one of the bolts stripped on me. i was going to tap theads for the next size bigger bolt, is there any problems with doing that?

Are we talking about the bolt at the engine exhaust port, or the bolt at the mid-pipe?
I'd try tapping it out the OEM size and see if it holds first...
PS - always apply liberal amounts of high-temp antiseize to those bolts before putting them back in.

Advice still holds -- see if you can tap it out to the same size and get it to hold; if not, move up a size.
