    JokerZwild, I did use synthetic but that is what I had in there before although it had a different weight / viscosity range. Went to 10 W40 based on availablilty.

    did you put in synthetic? Ive been told that it tends to seep out far easier if there is a gasket issue then conventional oils do.

    From what I can find in the 98+ Haynes manual:

    Crankcase 6mm bolts and nuts: 11Nm
    Crankcase 8mm bolts: 23Nm

    I have an oil leak too

    It's the "starter clutch cover" (that's what the manual calls it) gasket. I phone ordered a new one over the phone; man I hope the get the right part.


    The leak has been there a while judging from the spray on the other parts, but it just got a lot worse right after an oil change, which seems coincidental.

    Also I didn't see the torque spec in the book for this cover but I am guessing that it is 11.5 ft-lbs based on the other similar covers. Does anyone know for sure?
