  • 93 Katana Oil Cooler Question

Have a question about the oil cooler on a 93 Katana. The bike has a rubberized piece of material on the engine side of the engine cooler. Looks to me like this would block air flow through the oil cooler and the engine. Is this a stock piece and can I remove it or should I leave it alone?

    Thanks

Air isn't meant to flow over top of the engine (no cooler fins there), instead it's to flow around the sides. The rubber piece is to prevent all the wiring and hoses on top from getting too hot and melting among other things.

That piece isn't on the 600's either.

And I took it off of mine when it ripped because it just became annoying to deal with . Been without it for a few years now .
