  • Bike ran yesterday; wont crank over today

I had my 88 katana 600 running yesterday, but today it will not start up. It cranks and every once in awhile you can hear it start to send some fuel in the line, but it will not catch. I checked the petcock and fuel does come out when it is on prime so that does work. I also checked the fuses. What else can I check to get this bike running, so that I can get new tires for it tomorrow?

    sounds like you flooded it
Shut off choke and try with throttle twisted
If that doesnt work I would try a new set of spark plugs

What do you mean by twisting the throttle? I also pulled one spark plug out and the wire was corroded and broke off the the coil. I cannot seem to twist the coil back onto the wire to make a good connection.

just like you are speeding up
got to get the coil wire issue fixed , probably not getting good strong spark like that

you still need to address the ignition wire issue!!
wet weather will likely cuse you to end up stranded or right back to the no start issue

I did cut the plug wires and rethreaded the plug connector back on. I do want to pick up some new wires and connectors (i dont think this is the proper word), but first i have to get my bike running again now that i seem to have some sort of charging/ battery issue with the bike.

if you have not rode it the battery will take for ever to recharge with the just alternator
way better to put a charger on it

The bike shop that is putting the tires on is supposed to look at the charging system and the battery and they are going to let me know what is going on hopefully tomorrow.
