ok so wild-bill stopped by yesterday to help me my carbs were clean and my jets are good. he noticed my cdi is out of its black box didn't think it was much of a prob since bike has been running and its been that way since i bought it.

    *New Spark plugs
    *New Fuel
    *No leaks hoses are good

I've read that a CDI CAN be tested by a shop with the right equipment .....

THe commonly understood method is to plug in a known good unit and see if it solves the problem . But I KNOW I read that some shops with the right equipment CAN actually test the units .....

My take is to get a new CDI, if the internals get wet what so ever, kiss it good bye!

There are some resistance test you can do MD86. I don't have those numbers off the top of my head. You can do a resistance test on the primary and secondary side of the coils also.

Have you tried checking to see if you've got spark yet? Plug that module in, unscrew a spark plug and crank the bike over. If the signal generator and the coil are both OK then the only thing that'll keep you from getting spark is the module. Based on the looks of the thing I think it's pretty unlikely that the module is good.

Have you checked for spark with the one you've got? Who knows, it MIGHT still work... Either way, it doesn't cost anything to try.

E-Bay? Might have to get creative with the search but they're out there.
