  • Carburator Settings on 1989 Kat

First time poster!!!! I have an 89 katana i just bought and the guy before me had rejetted the carbs. I went and bought the stock jets for it and set the floats now i want to make sure the screws are set to the right spot. I know the outter 2 carbs have bigger pilot jets so are those screw suppose to be set different? My clymers just says that they pilot screws are preset but does not say what they are suppose to be if they have been tampered with. So can someone please tell me what the are all suppose to be set to from the factory? Are they all the same? are the outter two differanct from the inner to like the jets are? HELP PLEASE! Thanks for you time fella's.

    Rule of thumb:
All the way in till just bottomed out, then two turns out..

There is a way of fine tuning it but I don't know it

just to add to this post as it seems appropriate..

does any one know what the equivelent settings to stock would be if i have needles with 5 different e-clip settings. im still not sure if there is a jet kit in the bike or not.......

Keep in mind that when turning the needle in until is seats.........gentle.... tightening too much will destroy the tip on the jet.

it's my opinion......that's what makes it mine..

I think if you have 5 E-clip positions you have a jet kit...
My needles have only 1.. My guess is the middle
setting is the place to start..

                      Well,

Here is a link to a previous post of mine. Check the link and go to the "jet kit" page, pictures of the needle and the spacers as well as a link to the Factory Pro tuning page, on eof the best I have found.

Are you sure they should all be the same tho? Why are the main jets differant on the outter two?
