    How to test ignition coils?

    I'm having issues trying to test the coils... Are you supposed to test the ohms between the plug wires, or just straight through the coil? Also, what's the primary and secondary mean? This should NOT be as hard as it is so far, haha. I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing stupidly.

    primary are the different color wires going into the coils and secondary are the spark plug wires. what readings are you getting, you know you are testing for resistance not power.

      weird. i can't get anything from the spark plug wires. the primary is about 3.5 ohms.. i'm still messing with an issue from a few weeks ago. i want to see if i can tell that the coils are bad or anything before buying new ones.
