  • loose handle bar WTF

    On my 04 750
Never noticed this before but handle bar holder is showing movement between it and the upper steering stem bracket
I realize there are rubbers in between ,
Should I be able to see movement tho ?
I can easily see movement when you look at the fork adjusters and apply pressure to handle bars

Should I order new rubbers or try to re torque them ?

        Hi rexazz,

I just checked mine, also a 2004 750. There is some very slight movement, slightly more on the left side. It rebounds back each time. I tried retorquing, but he fasteners are not budging at all. I'd suspect some movement is normal and imagine it's part of the vibration dampening. I've only got about 7000 km so doubt rubber wear is an issue.

I'll be checking the shop manual just to be sure when I get a moment.

I am at 35'000km,been around the block a couple more times LOL
I checked my factory manual and other than torque spec the didnt mention any thing
I will check the torque on them tommorrow , got nothing to loose trying it
I put a wrench on the nuts from below, but the tops turned and the caps are still in
Looks like the caps will be damaged coming out , may just leave them out

It has not been bad enough to take apart yet
A bike mechanic I talked to said replace them with washers , but that will not dampen vibration
I think that the rubber bushings that come with chevy sway bar link kit may work in place of OE( Moog#K5252) and will be a lot cheaper

You definitely don't want a rubber giving out on you while you're going at it....
