  • Hydraulic Clutch question

When i do the motor swap that is on the agenda i have to bring over the clutch lever assembly from the '86 1100 as it's hydraulic. The book calls for Dot 3 or Dot 4 fluid. My bet is it has Dot 3 in the system at this point. What i'm wondering is can i flush and clean the cylinders and hoseline well and refill with DOT 4 without any compatibility issues, or do i have to stay with Dot 3? I'd just as soon use Dot 4 as that's what's in the brakes of my '90 750.

Basically everything that isn't DOT5 is compatible. You should have no problem using DOT4
