Hey guys, i got a 98 GSXF 750 which i just brought from a friend, in which the tank had rusted out, (garaged kept, he never rode it, but left gas in the tank). I replaced the tank with a used one which i cleaned up and cleaned the petcock up. I order a new petcock gasket (Part # 44348-49170) and put it on the tank. My problem is that it leaks like crazy. The gasket seems to be way smaller than the pet cock groove for it. Any ideas?

Arsenic, the used tank came with a petcock but the knob and the inside of it (the shaft the knob sits on) was broken off and exposed the inside of the valve assembly, but it has a gasket in it but that gasket fills the groove completely. Im afraid to try to pull that gasket out and risk ripping it or something or for it just to start leaking later. U think i should try that one?How much is your head worth?-

Thanks! (arsenic)
I went to the local motorcycle shop and was gonna get some fuel resistant rtv and they wanted to see what i was talking about, so i showed them the petcock and they noticed how it was ate out from corrision or what have you. Basically where the fuel strainer/filter that sits in the two petcock holes are and that it would probably never seal. So I just order a new petcock.
So thanks for all your help, especially arsenic. How much is your head worth?-

No one likes a broken cock.90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.
