  • Need Help Finding Motor

Hey I was just wondering if anyone knows of any websites that sells used bike motors. Im looking for a motor for my old Ninja, just so I can get it running and sell it or something.

Of course it would help to know the year and size of the bike. Be sure to search all of the Kawa engines because there might be somethig from another bike that would fit the ninja.

I kind of wanted to order or buy from a place that has some kind of guarantee other than just some person on ebay. By the way its an 89 600.

Then be ready to pay....and probably enough that once you got it installed, it would end up costing you more than the bike is worth.
It is my guess that if you just part it out on ebay, you would probably make more profit than what you would make fixing it up and running.
I also don't believe you will find anyone who will garantee an engine. About the only garantee you can expect is for it not to be DOA (dead on arrival).
FYI....I bought a damn nice racing engine off of ebay....and totally satisfied. If you look for a powerseller, they are usually pretty honest. The have Ebay Stores....and are usually salvage yards.

I am inclined to agree -- the guarantee would probably double the price. IMHO, you'd probably be best off getting another same-era ninja and using your existing one as a parts bike. This will give you a running bike that you have experience with maintaining/etc., plus the ultimate in cheap part sources (another bike to salvage) -- and you can test ride the one you would buy to know it's in good shape.
The only place I'm aware of getting a warrantee is through a manufacturer warrantee (new bike or one still in the grace period) or an aftermarket-warrantee (usually only for a decade max), both of which are normally sold with a bike, not specifically an engine. I suspect asking for a warrantee on a 15 year old vehicle engine is a bit much.

          Cheers
