Engine dies when shifting into first from neutral...

    just for future reference, I had the same problem, and it turns out in the big main wiring harness plugs on the right side of the battery box, the wire colored black w/white stripe had come disconnected, causing the bike to die when shifted out of neutral. My sidestand safety switch is nonexistant, so it may actually be a wire for where it used to be. just my 2 cents.
