  • No headlight

OK, one of the last issues I need to work out on this 92' Katana 600 is the headlight does not appear to be working.........

No hi or low beam........... I guess my first step will be to check if there is even a bulb in there........ or is it one entire assembly that would need replacing?

As of right now, i checked the fuse and that is fine......

    Other suggestions?

Could also be a bad swtich or broken/worn/melted wiring.

I poured spot remover on my dog. Now he's gone.

Or the bulb is shot. Check the voltages at the plug if you have a multimeter. Then work backwards to the switch.

My guess is either a bad wire (probably ground if so) or a bad bulb. There are 3 wires for the headlight. Yellow/black is the common ground, yellow is the hot wire for the high beam and the white wire is hot for the low beam. Since neither works but the switch lights up I would have to say it's probably a bad bulb. Disconnect the connector, remove the rubber cover, unhook the clip and remove the bulb.

So I pulled the bulb out tonight...... I'm suspecting a bad bulb...... it is all rainbow colored, not transparent at all.

I'll get a new bulb tomorrow and see what happens

              check the ground
I would say it is pretty rare to burn out both sides unless cracked glass or bad ground , or voltage regulator

UPDATE: replaced the bulb.......... problem solved. I thought it was odd that BOTH high & low was out, but I guess the bulb was just completely shot.
