Front Fender Removal

Do I need to remove the Front Tire to take off the front fender, or can I just remove the plate that sits between the 2 forks and pull it off from there some how? Its the only peice I am having trouble removing!

Yes, the tire has to come off. At least is does on 89-97's.

Unless you have the hands of a three year old the front wheel has to come off 88-04.

Yea............I've never had any luck getting them off without taking the wheel off, which means also removing the calipers!

Side note: On the early Kats, the fender does seem to slide striaght out between the forks, whereas on the 98+ Kats you have to slide it DOWN all the way out of the forks...........

The wheel does have to come off though, I spent an hour screwing with that and couldn't get the nuts underneath off.

It won't give you any problems. Just trust us the wheel has to come off. I fiddle around with the wheel hangin half off for an hour before I gave up and took the wheel completely off. After that smooth sailing.

Actually have taken it off and replaced it with the wheel on. Secret was to have an extemely long box end wrench that I bent and slid up onto each bolt. Was really determined to do it without removing the front wheel though

Removing the front tire is pretty simple. But you will need to torque the wheel axle nut. axle holder bolt, and the caliper bolts back to proper torque specs. The specs for a 2000 Kat 750 are as follows: Axle nut = 31.5 lb-ft, sxle holder bolt = 16.5 lb-ft, and the caliper bolts = 27.5 lb-ft of torque. I believe the torque specs are the same for all 750 Kats 98-04. Cyberpoet or Special K would know for sure though.
