  • I don't get it!!!

So I'm working on this 93 Katana 750 and I've completely cleaned and sync'd the carbs according to spec... and according to Special K's Carb's 101.

    So here's the problem...

    1) I'm getting lots of overflow and smoke from the #2 carb.
    2) It bogs down as soon as I give it throttle.
    3) I can't get the idle to slow down to spec.

I'm absolutely out of ideas... any help would be great.

    Thanks.

On number 3, I'd suspect your idler circuit is still gummed up.

When you run your Kat, touch the pipes to see if all four pipes get hot, as they should.

        Did you check the plugs?

The plugs are brand new and yeah all 4 pipes are getting hot... this is why I don't get it... the only other thing that I could think of is that maybe the timing is 180 out? BUt even if that were the case it wouldn't run right?

Overflow? Floats stuck or float valve seal bad.

Which diaphram springs? DynoJet springs are often too strong and that will cause bogging on throttle coming off idle. Ditto not having enough vacuum (either because of a vacuum leak or a too porous air filter, such as a K&N with the wrong donut). Also not having the diaphragm slides clean will cause this issue (wash with warm water & dish detergent, pat dry with towel, allow to dry before reinstalling).

Throttle cable(s) set too tight, choke sticking, or that dreaded vacuum leak again...
