  • RELEASING FUEL ???

    HI THERE,
THE GAS IN MY TANK(98+ KATANA) HAS BEEN SIITING THERE ALL WINTER(4 MONTHS) WITH FUEL STABALIZER IN IT . I WANTED TO EMPTY IT AND PUT FRESH GAS IN THE TANK. IS THERE ANY WAY TO RELEASE THE GAS WITH OUT PUMPING IT OUT? I HEARD OF A FUEL PETCOCK, BUT KNOW KNOW WHAT IT EXACTLY IS....DO I SET THE SWITH TO PRIME BEFORE EMPTYING IT/OR REFILLING IT??? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE .

    first :kill the cap locks.

second :the knob that you turn on/prime/reserve is the petcock.
prime will drain the gas from the tank. fuel stabalizer is made to keep
gas fresh. fire up the bike and run it through.

if you want to drain it anyway, diconnect the fuel hose at the fuel filter, run that hose into a gas can and put the petcock on prime.

First: use the shift key now and then. :P (sorry I could not resist)

Second: That is what I did with my bike and it seems to be running fine. It stumbled for the first five minutes. I shut her down then checked the tire pressures. The engine fired right back up and ran fine after that.
