er.. silly question- 98+ 750 tripple tree

how the bloody hell does it come apart?!!

im trying to get the top half of the upper tripple tree off from the second one. but i go to undo the bolts with the rubber mountings and they just turn! the little chrome caps (i presume) do not come off either. any tips to removing the part in question??

All you have to do is remove the caps that cover the 4 bolts. Take them out and take out the screws that hold the clip ons on. That is all there is to it. Do not try to remove the other parts. That is to take the triple tree completely off and not the top part.

Yeah, just like you, I didn't think those little caps came off either...but they do. Just imagine, I took mine off without removing the caps...and I couldn't really tell you how I managed to do it.

If you take a really small flat head srewdriver (I'm talking computer screwdriver size), you can pop those little caps right off to reveal the allen heads.

Its funny that you posted this. I just went through the same ordeal trying to get mine off!!!!

Finally got it figured out, and my triple is thanking me I am sure!
