  • Engine break-in

    Ok,

Finally got my 750 back up and running after a few months apart in peices across several garages and in my car, my house ect. New rings around the rosie pistons, One new exhaust cam <not new, but new to the bike>. Also removed a mega ding from the # 3 exhaust pipe while the pipe was off and the bikes pulling like no tommorow. 1/8 throttle and its easily cranking at 60 in third.

According to the book, it says, first 500, no more then 1/3 throttle and dump the dino oil <varing the rpms obviously>. But it doesnt say weather I should refill with whatever oil you were using before. I normally run Semi blend. Should I refil with Dino oil the second time since the next recommended dump is at 1,500?

Also, one side question, I plan on probably popping on a few hundred miles tommorow so the breakin gets done and overwith quickly. Jut curious if I can take <or should take> it on the freeway if I so feel like jumping there? I've got no set agenda for riding tommorow and for all I know I might take a skip up to New Hampshire for the hell of it.

Thoughts for breaking in the new stuff??
    Thanks
If its not broke, Hit it with a bigger hammer and blame it on cheap imports

There are a couple schools of thought on how to bvreak engines in properly , but both seem to agreee on the "varying of rpm's" aspect . Highway's fine , just don't sit at 7k rpm's all day , change it up .
