  • Butterfly Shaft Seals

Anyone know a good source for butterfly shaft seals for a 99 kat 600? Haven't been able to find any so far.

I don't know that they are sold separately

They are just felt washers. Or are you looking for the nomex spacers?

I'm trying to find the rubber seals that fit around the shaft.

It's been a while since I pulled a set of 98+ down that far, so remind me... you have a pic of one of the seals? Are they something other than just viton o-rings or felt washers? Both can be sourced with out buying oem parts for much cheaper.

Mcmaster-carr or grainger for orings often is cheaper buying qty of 25 vs 1 OEM part.
A felt source and a hold punch - felt seals.

Help us help you, post some pics... :P

I tried to upload a pic, but its telling me I "don't have authorization to create or remove attachments" lol. This link shows a picture of one on a Mikuni. They call it a throttle shaft seal.

Um... Okay, honestly I'm confused, so bear with me here...

I'm not aware of that seal being used on the 99 Katana. I just don't remember ever running across it before, and it's not listed as far as I can find.

I've found the seal used on the older metal capped carbs used on the 1100 or 88 600. Part number 13651-51010 if you wanna source it from any OEM parts dealer.

The 89-97 BST33ss and BST36SS used on the 600s/750s used just felt washers as seals.

The 98+ BSR (you did list a 99 model yes? ) does not list that seal either.

It is listed on the 99 gsxR model. Is that what your asking about?

              Anyways, to post a pic...

Go to Imgur.com, sign up for free. Load the pic there. Copy the link, use it to post the picture here. Do that by clicking the large A at the top right of the posting box to expand the advanced editor options, then click on the image icon in the options and paste the URL.

Yep, 99. Definitely a kat 600, with plastic tops. Link for the carb pics below. I've rebuilt older Mikuni and Hitachi carbs, so far I've never seen a carb not have these. This is my first time on a katana though.

I'd acquire one of the Part number 13651-51010 listed for the other bikes I mentioned above. It's very common for Suzuki to have parts like that, they don't manufacture, cross over to multiple bikes. It's likely the same part, but if you order 1 you can verify that prior to spending a lot of investment on them.

Update: I got the seal in from partzilla and it's a direct fit. Looks like I'll be ordering more to finish out the other carbs. Now if I can just get the stripped butterfly screws out........... lol
