Question about 98 kat carbs

Ok so I have a stock 98 kat plan to use the stock airbox with the stock filter. My header is a 4 to 1 (stock header). I want to run open header or better yet the header to mid pipe no can as stated in other posts here says I need to up my main jet +4 and +1 for the pilot. this is before sea level adjustments. So if my kat came stock with a 4 to one then should I only go up 2 sizes? I'm not let say a noob when it comes to carbs but I'm not a pro either. Asking here so I can order my jets
