  • Head cover bolt gaskets/washers

I'm replacing the 8 the head cover bolts and those little rubber wahers/gaskets, whatever they are, and I'm wondering if I should just let them sit there, or put a little bit of silicone between the washer and the head cover?

You should be able to let them sit there..

The book says to coat the washers with clean engine oil for the 4 banjo bolts down the center, so I went ahead and did that for the 8 rubber washer thingies too. Although, the book doesn't say to do anything with them, so I would imagine you could leave them be just as well - but, it's probably a good idea to at least clean off any sand, grit, etc. Some of mine were pretty gritty...

hmm, thanks for the info on the banjo bolts/washers, I got new ones of those too.

The 8 rubber washers I got already appear to have some kind of oily coating to them, so I'm thinking the silicone wont even stick to that, so I guess they'll be ok with no further prepping.

Yeah , they shouldn't need goop on them unless they're already leaking . They seal fine by themselves . If they DON'T , get new ones .
