  • Crossing over parts, a how to

A topic that comes up a lot is "will XX part from XX bike, fit XX bike."
Here's how I would find out:

    Go to http://www.ronayers.com
Roll over OEM Parts, this opens another menu, click on Online Microfiche. (pic 1) (sorry I can't upload files to my server yet.. So click on the picture to enlarge it.

    Select Suzuki (pic 2)

    Select your model (pic 3)
On the next page select your year (or the year of the part in question.)

    Now select the section.
NOTE Ron Ayers has a great feature here, thumbnails.
Select "View thumbnails" if you don't know where the parts is.
A funny thing about Suzuki (I imagine other companies as well) is that it isn't completely logical where a part shows up. The rear brake pedal for example is in "Stand" The thumbnails will give you a pretty good idea if you are in the right area.

This returns the diagram. Find the part in the drawing, match the call out number to the part in the drawing and find the call out on the chart to the left. Click on the blue part number! This is important. The next screen will display the part number, price and description it will also note if the part has been superseded by a new part number. If so click the newer part number! Now enter the part number into the "where does this part fit?" field on the same page (pic 4)

This will return a list of motorcycle models and years the part also fits. (pic 5) It just that easy!

Nice, BP. I actually used this the other day to find out what other bikes used the same oil pan bolt as the 02 600. Didn't stop the local dealer that they didn't order them by part number but by size, but it's a helpful feature anyway.

                  Much better

Been using the parts lookup from several other sites but they don't show the part number in most cases so I couldn't do a cross reference.
                  Thanks.

this is a great feature, I've been looking up the part # of the item I have and seeing if it's the same on 98+ models and the 750, but this tells you different bikes as well as a year range.

That's why you should use Ron Ayers.
