If your footpegs don't spring back down
here's a quick fix.
Obviously I wont be held responsible or liable if anything
negative should happen or any unforeseen problems should
arise. This description is purely an account of what I did
to my Motorcycle to Fix my KNOWN problem.
I'll assume that you can remove your footpegs
from the double Allen bolt peg holder by pulling out the E-clip and through pin.
My small factory divot had sheared off so now the spring was no longer keeping down pressure.
I Pulled steel center piece out so I could drill through indent in aluminum
peg
I used a #10 3/4 self tapping Pan Head Screw to drill and thread the hole
I Used the self tapper to drill down into the aluminum being careful not to drill through to the other side.
Of course of course I could have chosen to
use a screw shorter than 3/4 but then I would
not get as much thread into the soft material
with the screws I had on hand
Once I drilled/threaded to the right depth cut off the drilling tip of the screw.
Next I reassembled the steel insert onto the peg
and tightened screw. Depending on what size screw
diameter is used the existing hole must be ground down
to fit the existing hole in the steel insert.
In my case the screw head was obviously protruding too much for it to fit back in it's slot on the bike.
I took a grinder to the screw head and thing it out to
around 1/32nd or what ever works
in your case aslong as you dont grind
the screw head evenly and dont grind
through and lose all strength which in
this application is not as critical and is
much stronger than factory.
Lastly I reassembled in backwards order including spring, pin and E clip.
In my instance i was not able to re use the steel washer at the front but it should not be a big deal.
And for My Bike Here she is
