  • Trying to tighten my chain, where could i get a split pin

My chain has too much freeplay right now. I am trying to tighten it. In service manual, it said that I should get a new split pin each time I adjust the chain. Where could I get one of those? Also, any poorman's alternatives?

Autozone sells packs of them for pretty cheap. I usually re-use mine a few times though

Any autoparts store, hardware store, or motorcycle shop.

      Just because they sound the same doesn't mean they are: there≠their≠they're; to≠too≠two; its≠it's; your≠you're; know≠no; brake≠break

I use a quick release pin, infinitely reusable.

Worst case would be a piece of welding rod, or even a finishing nail - but nails don't bend as easily.

Its a cheap part and most hardware/auto store should have something comparable for cheap. Anything that will fit and stay in the hole and keep the nut from turning will work.
