pinging sound in engine

i have a 2002 gsx 600f and at about 3500 to 5000 rpm in any gear i get a pinging sound in the engine when im above or under these rpms the sound goes away what could this be and is this somthing i can fix myself

im 3 turns out with ivans stage 1 jet kit he recommended 4 and i did but it smelled heavily of raw gas should i maybe go back 1/2 turn and it also pops while idling down while coming to a stop

Popping on decel = lean condition. What jets came in that kit? You running the stock airbox and filter?

stock airbox and cleaner only other mod is a stealth pipe

jet has 115 on it

found the carbs 102 post going to go back and do my first work over will post again when completed would have read it first but im new to bikes and kr thanks for your replies

Yea, but if you've already done it recently an they aren't clean, read some threads on doing it properly.
