Was looking to make my own custom rack but found a Givi Monorack rear rack for an SV650 for very cheap off Craigslist. Holding it up in place on against the Kat it seems like it could be a solution for adding a rear rack that can hold a trunk easily while not having to remove the grab bar or mod the fairings at all.
As long as I don't mind not having use of the rear pegs (never take a passenger anyway) I think I can get by with just a couple mods. Drilling a mounting hole just up from the rear peg on the forward support and having a new bracket fabbed up to attach the rack mounting point to the frame, just above and in front of the rear turn signal mounts.
See any issues with using the drilled hole in the rear peg mount as one of the mounting points? Anyone done this before? I couldn't find anything like it in the archives.
