  • Bar risers

This topic has been discussed several times but since there isn't much in the aftermarket for our Kats I was wondering if anyone has used risers for other makes or models using the 41mm fork mounts.

I also saw some Busa replacement bars that are offset about 1-1/2 higher that slip into the stock location that may work.

Are the Kat bars 7/8" OD

I know Spiegler has a complete straight bar conversions kit for $300+usd+shipping but there must be other options.

    Ideas?

    oh ya... 750 Kats.

post 750 handle bar bracket is spaced on rubbers from the upper triple tree
a new set of longer bolts and 4 equal length spacers without rubbers should do the trick
I however would be concerened with vibration without rubbers ,with rubbers maybe to much flex

I bought some risers for my ZX6R from here. Not sure if any of these will work?

Thanks Batgirl but I think I've found a product that may be a straight bolt-on to provide a 1" lift ... designed for the Busa.

The top (bar mount) triple looks like the same part between the Katana and Busa.

I have a set of Convertibars. They work great as the are infinitely adjustable but they are not cheap. I bought mine used on ebay.

squiggy, the convertibars will cost me $500can by the time I get them to my door.

That's too rich for my blood.

Soupy's also sells just the risers and bolts for $20... I might go this route.

Yep, I know. I bought mine for like $80.00 on ebay. I don't know if the seller knew what he had for the price he listed it for.

My buddy has a Busa but I don't know when I'll see him next to take some measurements.

I pulled the bar mount from my bike and it looks similar to the Busa but there are enough differences that I don't think I'll drop $100 trying the Busa part on the Kat.

I'm opting for the shim only approach and will update you guys on my success.

OK, I'm calling my risers "ghetto risers".

I didn't want to spend a $100 on the Busa part and get something I couldn't use so I bought longer mounting bolts and a handfull of washers and made my own ghetto risers.

I've only done a very short ride and the change is noticable but I think I'll test this setup for a bit before I buy the aluminum risers off ebay.

The nice thing about the washers is that you can add/remove washers to suit individual bar hieghts requirements for comfort.

I'll post back in a little while after some more seat time.

I did a 1" lift. The brake lines and cables all reach no problems.
