  • help broken exhaust stud

hi - thought id try and get the exhaust off my 1997 katana- the nuts and studs that secure the header pipes are seized solid. i managed to break one with very little pressure . any idea on how to remove the nuts without any more damage ? ? and is there any way to replace the broken stud ?

Nuts and studs? Really? I was pretty sure on the kats they are allen headed bolts...

Heat and penetrating oil to try and get the nut loose.

Soak the nuts with rust penetrating lubricant. Try working them back and forth, as opposed to just twisting on them till they break.
Apply some heat to the broken stud and use a stud removing socket to twist it out. You may benefit by using a little heat on it also.
