  • Handguards

i finally got my handguards from AZ motorsports that are made for a DL650 VStrom but they fit my SV650 and i think they will also fit 99+ Kats. they're kinda Mad Max looking on my bike but i think they'd look ok on a Kat also.

Looks like those would cut down on windchill for those cold temperature rides.

    Are they expensive?

How well do they work Dan? I might have to put a set on my bike for the cold days.

Don't think I'd have them on my bike other than protection from the cold at the end of the season, how easily do they go on and off?

Is there enough space between the grips and the guards for thicker gloves to fit ok ?

You should look into painting those badboys, or maybe intigrated led blinkers!

i got them for $55 from AZ motorsports, i haven't had a chance to try them out yet. they take about 30 minutes to install and no modification to the bike is needed, just some longer bolts and spacers for the bar ends. i'll let you know how well they work as soon as it stops raining.

I use the same guards on my Bandit. They will not work well on the Katana due to clearance issues, but do work great for blocking the cold air during winter!

They only take about 5 minutes to install or pull off.

I ordered my stuff through ronayers.com, but there are a few different places to can order from. Here is a list of part numbers:

                    57431-06G00 - PIVOT BOLT X 2 $9.46each
                    02142-06107 - SCREW X 2 $0.79each
                    08319-21068 - U NUT X 2 $0.50
                    09160-06042 - WASHER X 4 $0.64
                    57341-06G00-019 - HANDGUARD RIGHT X 1 $15.88
                    57541-06G00-019 - HANDGUARD LEFT X 1 $15.88

You can do without the 06107 screw, 21068 u nut, and the washers, and I am pretty sure the prices have changed. Like I said, I would not even think about installing them on my Katana. THe newer ones may have more clearance, but I am not sure.

Here is a pic of the hand guards on my Bandit. It's not real clear, but you get the idea.

KatDan, you couldn't get them from Competition Accessories in Springfield, OH? I might have a Job there when I move back to Ohio.
