New left side fairing with hole and screen

I just replaced my left fairing. The one I received had an additional hole with a screen on it. It's on the bottom right in the picture. Does anyone know what it's for?

It's a California emissions thing. A fan is there on CA models I believe.

Thanks Arsenic, it was driving me crazy when I first saw it and I told the shop that the fairing wasn't OEM. I did email them tell I saw it on another bike.
