Stayed stock for 3 years, then did the "R1 Mod". :P

I started modding as soon as I bought the bike, first thing being the pipe, and shovel

That is a must, everyone should get rid of the shovel first. It doesn't matter what bike you have, they all have that nasty looking shovel.
It took me about 2 months of riding every day and then I had to do something to the bike. Just wait Frankenkat!! lol

Mine was pretty modded when I got it . And lots of stuff was broken or missing . Seems it was a little neglected and/or abused . So I'm pretty much always doing stuff to it . Most of the modding I do is not performance oriented though , it's more to make the bike more "useful" and hopefully reliable . Trying to keep parts from falling off somewhere on the road ! Luggage rack , Corbin seat , Nelson Riggs bags . Though this winter I've got a few plans . I scored a GSXR100 shock on E-bay , for one .
I am a fluffy lil cuddly lovable bunny , dammit !

                Keeping mine stock...
Since the word is the '05 is turning out to be the last run of the Katanas, I've decided not to change out the exhaust, and actually happy that I kept the factory warning stickers on the tank and fairing.
Somewhere in the near future I will consider retiring my '04 Kat and keep it garaged pulling it out for show purposes.
My mechanic says that when you look at the serial numbers on the '05 Katanas they will come back to the '04 lot with the exception of the on/off switch for the headlights, even though the title and registration shows the bike as a 2005.
I'll be sad to see the bike go away, but look forward to what Suzuki will produce to take its place.
                Ridin On ...o^o
                No problems!

If I had an 04 or 05 I would keep it stock also. I have the 93 to mod.

I think most will do performance mods. I know a lot of people who get bored of the lack of power. And if they cant afford to upgrade in bike, they mod.

True and like me, when I got my first bike, It only took a few months of riding and I wanted more power. Given the fact that the 05 is possibly the last year of production for the Kat(I hate to say) I would leave that one alone.

Even the Busa gets upgraded after awhile or the owner sells it because he can't handle the power output.

I loved my bike for about a half a season, they I began to crave more power. I still love the Kat, its great for what it does.

I actually want a cruiser, a VMAX. But I want to keep the Kat too

I may be the only one in this whole sport bike world that thinks this, but I like the shovle. I actually bought a new inner fender from specialk because the one on my project kat was chopped. Call me crazy but I'm sticking with the shovle.

9 of you say you have complete mods. Is that bolt on chrome or performance mods. You know like chrome belly pan or bandit engine, maybe a GSXR frontend, or 180 tire with a RF swingarm.
Yes Arsenic, that puts you in the minority. Most of the Kat's lose their shovel rather quickly.
