  • Double Bubble or Touring Windscreen?

What do you guys use on your bikes to keep the air off of you?

I'm interested in getting a new wind screen, but have no idea what i want from what I've read on here.

The Double Bubble looks cool, but what does it look like when on a post KAT and where does it direct the air to?

I've seen what the Touring looks like... a bit tall when installed on the bike if you ask me. But where does the Touring direct the air? Shoulders? Head? Above all that?

I'm 5'11", so I sit pretty high on my KAT. Tired of having the wind directed at my face when I decide to pull the trigger.

From what I have read, the double bubble acts similar to a magnifying glass and cooks the instrument panel. I don't personally own them so I cannot vouge for that explanation, but I have seen it written quite a bit.

That being said, most people who change the screen out opt for a zero gravity touring screen. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

I had a double-bubble on my kat and there is no difference on how sun passing through it affects the instrument panel. It doesn't act like a magnifying glass and if you think about the physics of what makes a magnifying glass, then it's pretty easy to see that it is impossible for a double-bubble to act like one.

What you will see as a difference is the clarity looking through it. If it's poorly made, there will be a lot of distortion looking through it compared to the stock windscreen. And frankly, unless you buy a zero gravity windscreen, the ones you find on ebay are not as clear.

I did like how the double-bubble redirected the wind to the top of my helmet instead of my chest/neck area. You could actually tuck behind the double-bubble and it made a difference.

I run a double-bubble on my busa now as well. (added it after the pictures below were taken)

I made a custom Laminar lip and I'm able to do 80kmh with my visor open. My design moved the original airflow from my neck/visor to over my head.

Have seen how a double bubble melted a gauge panel, on Free Coffees' ZZR12.

Apart from that, they look hideous.

Will you post pics please? Also, did you do this to a stock windscreen or a different one?

that's all well and good, but do a quick Google search and you'll see that DB windscreens can discolor or melt dash panels

The stock windscreen on the bandit melted the gauges too, so you may as well get one you like

I chopped one winscreen down and attached it to the stock windscreen.

Double Bubble melts the gauges on a Kat? I find that a bit hard to believe because it's plastic and because I doubt that the focal point of the curved windscreen focuses the light at the gauges.

Does anyone have a picture to show some "melted" gauges. I'll do a little research online about this "melting" situation, but Saskatchewan doesn't honestly get that hot during the summer, so I have a very hard time believing that a windscreen can focus enough light at one point to make it melt the gauges.

If A DB would melt the gauges, black and clear windscreens would make a huge difference in the factors that effect this problem.

                    Thanks for the idea

I have a double bubble on my ZX9 and love it.

I am taller- 6, 2" so its nice to be able to tuck my head behind the double bubble.
