Picked up a Powerbronze Chin Spoiler over the winter
I installed it yesterday after a quick paint
I went with a black satin hoping to tie it in with the existing body work
Kind of reminds me of the old Honda Interceptors

That is reminiscent of the old VF Interceptors. Nice.

I'm missing that piece, is it important?

Only for looks. I suppose it may help funnel some air over the lower part of the motor, but really it's just looks.

ah, it does look nice, yes.

aerodynamically, does it increase downforce or anything?

I felt like after changing windshields to a more aggressive double bubble that the front end is slightly more surefooted at speed on the ever-deteriorating freeways of Los Angeles.

The chin fairing is there to direct air past the engine. In this case, since it's aftermarket, it may or may not actually put the airstream where it's needed.

Your double-bubble windscreen is pushing more air up than the standard screen. This has the (equal and opposite) effect of putting downward pressure on your front end, pre-loading the fork springs a little. Same effect as the 50 cent fork mod does by lengthening the spacers.
